Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Since my life is pretty awkward, I've been looking forward to Thursday just to write about my daily events!
Note: This chair.. the one I'm sitting in.. soaking wet believe it or not. Yes, I had to change my pants :)

 Awkward:
---Eating dinner at my Cousin's. She was in the cooking and I hear the 'dinner bell'. I actually thought there was some bell she hit in her kitchen to be funny. I stood up then to realize it was her phone making a noise after receiving a message.
---Talking so fast after taking a gulp of soda (yes I'm back on soda, oops).. and a mini burp came out. I excused myself and no one made any comment. That's more awkward than something saying something, lol.
---Sending a much needed email out to someone. Proofreading the entire email (first time ever, I know).. then proceeding to send it since your pressed for time. Then realizing it was to the wrong person. Dang.... I plead the 5th on that one!
---There's someone in my work that knows my name and I see very rarely. Each time though I get that sweet 'Hello, Katie'... I still don't know what their name is! That happened today, but it's past the point of asking who they are.

Awesome:
---Leaving a delicious Pizza Restaurante with another couple.. my girlfriend and I hear the sweet sound of Bryan Adams over the radio and we begin singing. We head outside where you can no longer hear his voice but we continue on singing. We all hop in the car and I say 'I'll find Bryan on the radio..." I did and we continued our song ;)
---Had a fabulous home cooked meal by my lovely cousin, Jenn and indulging in some Reisling Wine, mmm.. Sadly, this girl here (muah) is no a cook!
---Having a night in, dinner & a movie with one of my besties tomorrow tomorrow who is due the first week in May. Can't wait! ♥
---Getting to discuss some Photography opportunities with a company over the past week. Things are looking up!

Sharing a Love Story ♥

Hello lovely friends! Here today we are sharing such a cute love story that you will all enjoy! It's unique and it'll make you giggle. As love should! Have fun reading, enjoy, embrace and stop on over to spread the love her way ♥

This is a story about a girl, a boy, and many hours in hospitals...

3 years ago I was in Greece with my university choral.  We were traveling there for spring break.  One night we were singing in an old beautiful church near Macedonia.  I was feeling ill and after the performance I went upstairs to try to rest and find some sugar before I passed out.  Finally the 'go-ahead' was made for the chorale to change.

I heard the guys coming - 3 of them.  I stopped to see who it was.  There in the middle was the boy I liked.  A handsome young man a year ahead of me.  And a dear friend of mine.  He and I locked eyes- and he bounded (or leaped) up the stairs towards me then- BANG- SMACK.
me and the cute boy in Greece

He hit his head on the low hanging ceiling then smacked down to the ground.  He was out cold.  Our other friend thought he was joking and picked up his hand and dropped it to the ground.  But it just made a thud.  He was unconscious.

Now by this time word had spread that we were allowed to get out of dresses and tuxes so others were on their way up.  Our resident EMT (No joke, there was one in the Choir) came by his side as our resident doctor and nurse made their way up to him.  I just stood there, watching- giggling actually because I had no idea what to do.  I was freaking out.

He was taken to the ER by our guide and a church member.  (Remember, we were in Greece, no English going on there.)  The rest of us went back to our hotel on the beach near Mt Olympus.  I could not sleep.  I just wanted him to come back so that I would know he was ok.  I was so scared.  By our dear friends reminded me of the sleep I needed.

Apparently, while he was at the hospital he kept saying my name over and over, and asking for me.  But I did not learn this until much later.

Over the next few days I stayed with him.  He would randomly pass out as we walked around.  (Post-concussion syndrome as he was later diagnosed)  We sat next to each other as we drove through the entire country.  Since he had his sense knocked out of him he decided to tell me that he liked me.  I was a freshman in college on an international trip, with a boy I had just spent the entire week with.  He did not like me, i was just the girl that was there.  (and that is what I told him).

When we returned he had to be hospitalized again.  This time, I stayed with him.  I was the one contacting his parents.  I was the one going to the various tests with him at several different hospitals.  I stayed next to his bed.  I never left.

On April 1st he was released and we had dinner in the dinning hall with our friends.  It could no longer be denied.  We were more than friends.  I never left his side after that concussion 3 years ago.  And now we are living happily ever after wonderfully married with our new puppy.

I am so glad he got the sense knocked out of him and decided I was worth his wonderful love.

Happiness is a Butterfly..

This past Sunday I went to Magic Wings with two of my  friends. It's a Butterfly Conservatory. I never experienced such serenity as I did walking through what I considered to be an indoor jungle. I was praying that a butterfly would land on me. I held my hand out and stood perfectly still, so many times. As life surprises you, when I was not looking for one to land.. as I was just enjoying my surroundings with the beauty and the company of my two wonderful friends.. a little butterfly found it's way to my arm ♥

Random Thoughts

Embracing Tuesday & Sharing some Random Thoughts with all of my friends ♥

#1: I am a Sponsor at one of my favorite blogs, Eisy Morgan. For those who know her.. LOVE her! Today I am featured on her blog. If you have a few minutes, please stop over and check it out, be sure to browse around and see everything she does. She's amazing!

#2: This girl right here (me) has been a total slacker with so many areas of my life. One being my 29 Days of Gifts. I promise you that I have been 'giving' every day. I just have not been writing about it. I will begin sharing again.  :)

#3: I've been brainstorming about some new projects I'd like to start that involve Love is Everywhere! I'm not sure what it will be or when they'll start, but just know there's a bit of chaos going around in my little noggin! It's all good stuff ♥

#4: L&O SVU was new last week and I was in shock when I saw Rose McGowan. It's so sad when these actresses get so much facial work that you have to 'google' to look for a recent photo of them. I'm still shock.

#5: There's a fabulous & fun giveaway going on here that ends on April 1st! Don't miss out on entering! ♥

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

I've been dying to join in on The Daybook's fabulous Thursday feature. By the time I remember, it's Friday. This week though, I made it. Well, it's Thursday and I'm ready!

Awkward:
-- Singing in the car on my way home from work, stopped at a light. I got really into it where I rocked my head side to side and peering over to my right an older gentleman was staring at me. Not even a smile! So I waved.
-- Walking out of the bathroom really fast at work just to get 'trampled' by a herd of people leaving a meeting. I attempted 5x (I counted) to get past the line. I had to wait in front of the bathroom as if I was a bouncer.
-- I may or.. may not still have my Christmas wreath up on my front door, that I made.
-- Asking someone the same question within an hour period of time, just to have them say "Katie, you just asked me this."
-- Taking out all of the patio furniture just for it to snow.
-- Walking bye someone at work who said "Hi, how ya doing?"... I then replied "Thank you."

Awesome:
-- Getting more items to finalize two fabulous House Warming Gifts for some of my besties.
-- Discovering an amazingly scented candle which I of course used as one of the gifts and bought one for myself. ;) (Yankee Candle: Pink Sands)
-- Getting a phone call from my favorite cousin at midnight (yes, that's technically today and he's an hour behind me) and talking for almost an hour. I was tired but it was worth the sleepy eyes today.
-- Feeling the sun on my face the moment I walked outside this afternoon.
-- Having a perfect weekend planned, dancing and singing with friends tomorrow. Saturday going to my first Wine Vineyard with another couple. I should re-write this and just say, Living life with Charlie ♥

I'm very excited to have the opportunity to share with you a little bit about me and my blog.
I am a...
Meet my blog ...
Photobucket
a little bit of this & that is a place for me to document my journey through life.
When I started my blog two months ago,  I didn't have a particular type (e.g. fashion, design, baking, etc.) of blog in mind.   I knew my blog would be a culmination of many random topics so I felt naming it "a little bit of this & that" would cover my various ramblings :)   Now after a few months in the blogging world, I'm happy to say I've probably succeeded in covering every topic imaginable {haha}.
Here a few links that may interest you ...
A few pictures from my blog ...

My trip around the blogging world has been more than I ever could have imagined and I look forward to more blog "sightseeing"! Please feel free to visit my blog and say "hi"!
Have a great day! xo ~Michelle~

That's Love: Defining Life

The story I'm sharing today defines so much of life. It defines many lives. The cute little boy with the tiny eyes in the photo below is my father. The lovely french woman kissing his cheek is my Memere. It may be difficult to read the article from the clipping so I typed it all out below. ♥

A tow-headed two-year-old boy got up this morning and packed away a heaping dish of corn flakes and milk with gusto, little the worse for a 30-foot plunge from his third-floor kitchen window last night.

Richard Broderick, today had only a slight scratch on his right hip and a bit of soreness here and there to remind him of him stumble to the grass below.

Richard was playing in the kitchen with his one-year-old sister, Dolores, while his father was watching television in the living room. The window was slightly open for ventilation and the boy apparently pushed it up and fell out.

His father, heard the scream, dashed down the stairs and found Richard crawling toward him and crying a little. He was taken to the Hospital in a police cruiser. Examination showed no injuries.

Mrs. Broderick, didn't hear about the mishap until she arrived home shortly before midnight. "When my husband found out Richard wasn't hurt, he didn't want to upset me by calling me at the factory." "When I got home, Richard smile at me and cried out, 'Mom', but he wouldn't come to me. He just clung to high father." "Now, when Richard looks at the window, he won't smile."

Today, Mr. Broderick is making sure there'll be no more accidents. He's putting full-length screens all around the apartment. [The End]

3 stories may not sound very high but even just looking outside your window of your second floor and imagining taking a fall, it's a long way down. Never mind, going up one more flight. I think often about this story and how life would play out. I wouldn't be here nor would my sister. All of the lives my father has touched and the memories made would be erased from the moment of the fall. One moment defines our lives. I'm so thankful for my father. (I also, inherited his fear of heights) ♥

Sponsor Love: Little Yellow Sew Shop

Wishing that you all had a fabulous weekend. On this beautiful Sunday night, with a bright moon I introduce once again my lovely friend, Amanda. If you remember a few weeks back I had my first Giveaway on Love is Everywhere. The beautiful talent behind that was this wonderful woman, Amanda. You will fall in love with everything she offers at her shop. Let's spread the love her way!

♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥     ♥

The Little Yellow Sew Shop is literally a little yellow room at DA Ranch. DA Ranch is my home in the country that I share with my awesome BF and my dog Cooper. I love our home, I love to craft and sew, go shopping with my mom, relax at home, read books, spend time with the BF and all my friends and family! I currently teach small groups of 1st, 2nd and 6th graders at an elementary school and I love it! The idea for the Little Yellow Sew Shop and my etsy shop came after I made my 4 year old niece a birthday outfit, shirt and tutu, and people raved about it! Then after having painted my craft room yellow it all came together and the same birthday outfit soon became one of my best sellers!

Thank you for visiting the Little Yellow Sew Shop at DA Ranch!

Here are a few of my favorites at Amanda's Etsy Shop. She has amazing Sales as well ♥

Venturing with the one you love..

Happy Sunday to all ♥ Mother Nature teased us the other day with 'warm' weather. Warm enough to lay on a beach.. warm enough to eat ice cream and your body doesn't feel cold.. you get the idea :) Then yesterday we get ourselves ready to head out to 'anywhere but here'. To our surprise it was freezing! Needless to say we had a beautiful day together.

As most of you know Charlie and I have been together for 10 years this August. When we first began dating I was a Senior in High School. Every Sunday he would pick me up and we would go on an adventure. At that time I didn't have a camera so I wasn't taking pictures so I only have memories that are a little hazy at times. We found amazing places that some we are still trying to find our way back to. We've explored so much of our home state and continue doing so.

With his schedule this past year we have not been able to do that. It was a huge part of our life together. It  made us happy and it was something we shared together. Yesterday we ventured out and didn't go far, it was perfect. We explored the biggest city in our state which is our Capital (Hartford). For a town filled with violence and crime we saw through that and found the beauty. I share with you "Finding Beauty in the Beast" ♥

Charlie wanted to be behind the camera yesterday so there's a 'lack of' Charming Charlie ♥

Mother Nature.. You Rock Girlfriend!

I cannot the beauty of today. The beauty that Mother Nature gave to us. Here in New England it was warm and sunny. Comfortable enough to lay down on a beach, not necessarily go swimming but you know what I mean. This weekend Charlie and I get to ourselves. No set plans or commitments, just us. We haven't had this in so long due to his awkward schedule when he was working nights & weekends (terrible combination).

We have however been truly lucky in our 9+ years of being together. We have ventured out in the car and found amazing places such a lakes, trails and memorable scenery. Tomorrow may be one of those days and I promise to share with you whatever pictures come about.

Today I share just a few pictures that make me smile. I took photos for a couple last weekend for their 'Save the Date'. Since I got to our meeting spot early I decided to take a few shots.

This was my first photo of the day. I looked up and boom, the awesomeness of the view hit me! ♥

I was truly thankful for the sun. There's nothing worse then having plans to take photos and it's gloomy out. That tree might be rather naked but I think it's perfect. ♥

So I never heard of this story nor did I get a chance to go in there. My Charlie was walking around while I took photos and of course I would make eye contact with this store 'Charming Charlie' ♥
