Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:
- I was driving to my bff's house yesterday and on the way there was a woman pushing a stroller. From far away I thought, aw that's so sweet! Then as I got closer I noticed she was talking on her cell. Nope, it was a cordless phone. You know the white ones with the big antennas? A second thought came to me... 'how far can she actually get with that thing'? Either she'll lose connection or she's pushing her child around listening in on other people's calls. It made me giggle. :)
- I'm petrified of spiders, I mean a physical and mental breakdown if one catches me off guard. This morning at 5:30am mind you.. I went to put my right foot in the shoe and out jump.. this huge, monstrous like the size of a squirrel.. (okay I'm exaggerating a bit) nasty spider! It ran towards me so I jumped back on the bed, screamed really loud, waking up Charlie.. then it made it's way to the other room. Charlie told me I should have killed it. I said... "With what my bare foot, heck no!"
- Thinking I can play the slot machines and actually win money..
-  Getting dressed and then my girlfriend came to pick me up to check out this Wine Bar. I sit in her car and see she's wearing a cute dress, beautiful hat and sandals. I look down and see I'm wearing jeans. I then step out of the car, run back inside and threw on a dress. ♥ So glad I did! That was not a place for KT Jeans ;)
- Talking to someone with a pen in my hand. I use my hands to talk way too much and it went flying up in the air. Pretty sure I frightened her. Not the first time... won't be the last..

Awesome:
- Going a full week without stepping out of my shoes while walking.
- Having a fabulous dinner made by my bff last night and trying for the first time, Pineapple Wine (delish.. F Y to the I)!
- On the topic of wine. You'll see the photo above with my two beautiful besties! We went to a place called Uncorked tonight. A wee bit pricey but it's worth it. I tried wines I never heard of before and we had what I consider to be elegant and yummy appetizers ♥ I love my friends and I sure love wine!
- Charlie gave Peanut a bath yesterday. It was so nice coming home to a sweet smelling, crazy licking, loveable little pup.
- This weekend is 4th of July. I absolutely am smitten over fireworks. Never did a Number and Word mean so much to me ♥

Sharing a Love Story ♥

Kevin and I met and started “dating” in the 7th grade. We were together throughout the rest of junior high and until the beginning of our sophomore year of high school when he decided he wanted a break - I was devastated. It took me a long time to start feeling like myself again and it was especially difficult (for me, anyway) because we were still at the same school and saw each other all the time.
Flash forward to the last few months of our senior year. I asked one of his good friends to the prom, but he declined, saying that he thought Kevin wanted to ask me. I really just think he was trying to come up with a nice way to say no thank you, but I’ll be forever grateful for the fact that he did say no. Kevin and I started talking again… and hanging out. I was a little hesitant at first, just because of how heart broken I had been and how hard it was for me to put myself back together.
We ended up going to our senior prom together (surprise, surprise) and were back together. We spent every minute together that we possibly could – I didn’t want the summer to end.
Kevin had enlisted in the Navy and left at the end of August, a week before I was heading to school and a week and a half before my birthday. We spent the next two years apart – me in Massachusetts, him in Mississippi - constantly talking on the phone and counting down the days until he would be home on leave again. It was hard, but I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
August 2006 he was done with his active duty in the Navy! I was so excited to have him around again and it was nice to be able to see each other more than once every few months. A few months later he started the fire academy – I was so proud of him, he was finally beginning to live his dream of being on the Boston Fire Department.
July 2007 he graduated from the academy and officially started working. Around December/January there started to be talk of him going over to Iraq with the Navy Reserves. I crossed my fingers and toes that he wouldn’t have to go, but we weren’t that lucky. May 2008 I graduated from college and then the following month he headed back down to Mississippi to begin training before he left for Iraq. Things had been rough between us for a while, and before he went to Mississippi I told him I wanted a break (worst girlfriend award? Probably).
The break wasn’t exactly a “break”. I went down to visit him in Mississippi twice that summer. We had so much fun together and I was NOT looking forward to him going to Iraq in September. But there was nothing either of us could do about it, and a week after my birthday he boarded a plane for the desert. He was there for six long months and finally came home for good in March 2009.
I was glad to have him back home with me, but it was definitely a shock for both of us. We struggled with trying to be back together until October of that year when things finally came to a head. I don’t remember what it was that pushed me over the edge, but I had had enough. I think we had been together for so long that we were “comfortable” and began taking each other for granted. I didn’t want to be treated like that and he didn’t deserve that either so I said I needed some time.
That lasted about a week. A whole seven days. I distinctly remember meeting him for lunch that fall day and having the conversation about what we were going to do. We decided to give it one more try and honestly – things had never been better after that. I think the time apart – while it wasn’t very long – was really good for us. It was like we were a brand new couple.
And now here we are in 2011 - still together, still going strong. We may not live together yet, and we’re not even engaged, but I love him. He’s my other half and even though we’re complete and total opposites I wouldn’t change us for the world.

Simple Thoughts.

One word expresses what I feel♥
My creativity of the day = 1 piece of paper, cutting letters out of 1 envelope, colouring the letters with a red marker, picking a tiny flower from my deck. Ta-da!

Let Yourself Feel Beautiful ♥

It's important for a lady to feel like.. a lady. We've grown up watching the men in our lives 'wooing' women in such romantic ways. I'm not talking about our fathers, uncles, or any other men that we see in person. I'm talking about the Richard Gere's... the John Travolta's.. the Robert Pattinson's.. This is what we see or read about and that's what us women grow up wanting. It's true, isn't it? I know it's not just me that always dreamed of that beautiful Wedding, the romantic proposal, the first kiss, etc. We grow up seeing these men making a lady feel like.. a lady. Well, let's start making ourselves feel special, since we can't wait around forever. Right? Next time you see a flower, pick it and put it in your hair. It'll make you feel glamorous ♥ Leave yourself sweet notes that will help lift up your spirits each day. Treat yourself to a day out and get all pampered. It's okay to make yourself feel special, because you are. You are all so beautiful. ♥

Meet our Lovely Sponsors: Part Two

*What is your favorite hobby and when did it begin? -I have SOOOO many hobbies!  It's hard to pick just one.  I've been doing photography my entire life.  I started out with an old Polaroid camera of my father's.  Recently I was a photographer for OU Student Media.  I absolutely love shooting sports!  My favorite is animals and nature though.  You'll understand my love of photography as soon as you stumble upon my blog.

I also recently started playing Frisbee Golf (Frolfing).  I talk about it a lot on my blog.  The game is quite a bit like regular golf.  You have a tee and a pin that you have to make it to.  Each hole has a certain number of shots that you try to make it in, or par.  The only difference is that instead of a ball and club you throw a disc.  Well that and the fact that the "hole" is actually a basket.  I'm not very athletic but I love this.  I get my workout in by walking the coarses and chasing down rogue discs.

I've also been writing for as long as I can remember.  When I was in high school I was accepted into the Oklahoma Summer Arts Academy for poetry.  I'm currently working on a novel, but it isn't coming along so well at the moment.

*Is there something that you always wanted to do in life? Do you have a passion for something you’re working towards? -I've always wanted to travel the world.  I love to travel but have only been to one other country (Mexico).  Once the boy and I get our lives straightened out, we plan to travel Europe.  I really want to photograph Ireland, Amsterdam, France, and Italy.  I've been trying to save up for a really nice camera, the Nikon D5000 to be exact.  I can settle for a cheaper SLR though, as long as I have something decent to use over there.

*Do you have a funny/embarrassing story you’d like to share? -I have quite a few really, I tend to be very absent minded and klutzy.  However, Matt's two favorites to tell are these:  One time when we were eating lunch at EL Chico we ordered Top Shelf Guacamole.  I was very sleep deprived and not paying attention to anything.  I'm sitting there enjoying my guac and smelled what I thought was bell peppers.  I did not know that raw jalepenos smell just like bell peppers.  So I said something about the bell peppers in the guac... Needless to say I realized my mistake when I took a big "bell pepper" filled bite.  Matt and the waiter had a good laugh.  I can't eat guac without Matt bringing it up.

The second one, I really don't have a good excuse for.  I went grocery shopping without Matt a few weeks ago.  We needed cereal and milk.  I don't like the taste of milk, so we usually get very vanilla soy milk or almond milk.  I've also been on an organic kick, so I buy Kashi when I have the money.  Matt and I like different flavors of their shredded week, so I picked up what I thought was a box of each.  Then I head over to the milk area and have to find a carton of almond milk that isn't smashed.  I mean really, who wants milk to bust in their car??  Anyway, I grab the first not smashed carton I see and put in the basket without thinking.  I get home and Matt asked why I bought two boxes of the same cereal... I was a little embarrassed but didn't really worry about it.  I said something about getting almond milk, and got a reply of "uh... what almond milk?  You bought coconut milk."  I had to go see before I believed him.  I also messed up something else, but I don't remember what.  He told everyone we knew we about two weeks the whole story.  I can't go shopping alone now apparently lol.

*Is there something you do to ‘de-stress’? If so, tells us about it. -This is so totally lame, but when I get stressed I get on ebay.  Shopping tends to be my way to cope with stress, but on ebay I'm not guaranteed to actually win an auction so there is a chance I don't end up spending the money I don't need to spend.  It also gives me good gift ideas!
*What is a perfect day in your eyes? -It would start with me being off work!  Matt would wake me up with sweet potato pancakes and a raspberry iced coffee.  The day would be about 80 degrees with a slight breeze and very few clouds.  We'd go out to NE Lions park to play a round or two of disc golf before noon.  Then we'd go have sushi for lunch.  A perfect day HAS to include sushi, or it's not perfect.  After lunch, I'd get my full-tummy-nap while watching The Labyrinth (my favorite movie!!).  Upon waking, I'd sit outside in my hammock (I may not have one now, but on a perfect day I would) reading a book and/or blogging.  The dogs wouldn't jump on me and beg for attention.  Tank wouldn't irritate Matt near as much as normal.  For dinner, we'd go to Cowboy's with the besties.  I'd get my favorite, a rare filet minon with a light beer or a glass of wine.  Then we'd go to bestie's house to drink, swim, and play Rock Band.  I'd be worn out enough to get a good night's sleep too!
*     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *
*When did you begin blogging and what inspired you? -I started blogging the middle of December 2010 and I had just moved to Colorado and was a stay at home mom. I needed a creative outlet and wanted to find a way to possibly make a little bit of coffee money!!

*Do you have any features you created on your blog? If so, tell us about them/it. -
I have several things I try to run on a regular basis they are:

*What is your favorite hobby and when did it begin? -I would have to say graphic design. I just dabble in it but I really enjoy it a lot. I would say it started about 5 years ago for me when I took a photoshop class!

*What do you want to do with your life, do you have a passion for something you’re working towards? -My greatest dream would to be a speaker. Another one is to have an "at home" business so I can stay home with my kids!

*Is there something you do to ‘de-stress’? -baths, walking, shopping, coffee with friends!

*Any tips or advice for our friends out there that are just starting up their blogs? -Comment a lot and post often! You can read my post about How to Gain More Followers HERE

*What is a perfect day in your eyes? -Getting up, going to Starbucks, going to the airport, flying to somewhere tropical, laying on the beach, getting dressed up, going out to somewhere nice with my husband and go.

*Is there someone you look up? -Famous or someone close to you? And Why? I really look up to a woman named Beth Moore. She is so passionate about God and life and believing truth. I would love to meet her and I would love to be more like her as well.
*     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *
Hello lovelies! I'm Michelle from a little bit of this & that and I'm so happy to be a sponsor for Love is Everywhere.  Katie is a sweetheart and I love reading her blog!

*When did you begin blogging and what inspired you? -I began blogging just a mere five months ago in January.  I can happily say that blogging has changed my life!  It has been such an amazing experience and I've met so many wonderful people.  :)   I was inspired by others in the blog world!  Last year,  I began to notice a lot of baking blogs as I scoured the Internet for recipes (baking is another passion of mine) and started to follow them.  I thought that creating a blog would be a great creative outlet for me so I put "create a blog" on my bucket list.  When the new year began,  I knew it was the right time for me to cross it off my bucket list and get blogging! And here I am :)

*Do you have any features you created on your blog? If so, tell us about them/it. -I have a few features that I am very happy to share with all of you.  I love link ups!  When I began blogging, I starting linking up each week with other blogs and I met so many amazing bloggers that way.   I decided that I thought it would be fun to create a few link ups of my own.

Last month,  I created two one-time link ups called Me on the Map and You Say It's Your Birthday. Me on the Map was a link up where I asked bloggers to share where they live and highlight their town to allow readers to know more about where they come from.  In the You Say It's Your Birthday link up,  I asked bloggers to share their dream birthday or favorite birthday celebration with us.  Both link ups received such a great response that I'm trying to come up with a weekly link up!  Until then, I currently have a few series running on my blog. On Mondays,  I host a two-part dating series: Not Another Bad Date where I share bad dating stories sent in by bloggers (shared anonymously unless otherwise noted) and The Road to Finding Love where I share bloggers dating stories that have a happy ending.

I currently co-host a series/link up called Tastes & Travels where we share food, fashion, and destination information as we virtually travel the world! It recently started and I hope you'll come visit and travel the world with us :)  I am also currently hosting two new additional link-ups which include Sweet Tooth Sunday and Meet & Greet: Blog Edition.

*Is there anything happening in your life at the moment, that you're absolutely loving?  -Everyone who follows my blog knows I LOVE the singer, Jason Aldean.  After being a dedicated fan for 4+ years,  a dream of mine came true and I was able to meet him.  It was the best day ever!  It was a day I will never forget and a great memory that I will cherish!  {For the full story, you can find my blog post here.}
*What is the best vacation you ever had in life and why? -Las Vegas is one of the most exhilarating places that I've ever been to!  I LOVE the strip and all of the hotels!  Everything is gorgeous and over the top.  There is such a great energy in Las Vegas and there is so much fun to be had!

*Is there someone you look up to in life?  Are they famous or close to you and why? -Someone I look up to is my mom.  She is the best mom that I could ever ask for and my best friend.  She works hard to do everything she can for everyone in her life.  She is my not only my mom and best friend, but is my biggest supporter and has helped me to become the strong, independent woman I am today.  I hope that I can be as great a mom to my children some day.

Family equals Love.

This weekend was amazing. First off it was 4 days for me as I took Thursday and Friday off from work. I feel rejuvenated, honestly. I saw friends, went to the Casino, lost money (but it's okay), got my car fixed which still requires some more fixing. Overall though, it was perfect.

My Aunt Dee from Michigan has been down visiting with everyone this past week. When she's here our lives are so much brighter. I was able to spend a lot of time with her. Yesterday was the best. We have a 4th of July picnic at my Uncle's with all the relatives each year. We planned it early so my Aunt could be apart of it and also my little cousin graduated from High School so it was a bit of a mixture.

Family is incredibly important in my life. It's tough when things are not going great or people aren't getting along, which happens in every family. It definitely effects me in a negative way. Lately though, things are going smoothly. Yesterday, was proof of that! ♥

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

 Awkward:
- The brakes are going in my car so there was a bit of grinding today. My poor car aka My Boy Blue must be so angry with me.
- My lovely neighbor cut my hair in her personal salon in her home. It was really neat going into a neighbor's house to see how everything is compared to ours. She gave me all the gossip of the neighborhood. I really wish she didn't because now I'm scared of a few people. It's like seeing someone naked that you just wish you could turn back time! Lol.
- Walking into the wrong room at work where a meeting was in progress, which I was definitely not invited to.
- Talking and walking at work with a co-worker when I slammed right into a cabinet. Who put that there?
- Singing a duet at karaoke with my friend and I was the guy. ;)

Awesome:
- I opened my Etsy Shop today and very happy about it. You can purchase photos I've taken and display in your home or give to others as a gift ♥ Love is Photography
- My favorite Aunt Dee is down this week and this coming Saturday we are having a huge family picnic which is a Pre-4th of July party mixed with my cousin's graduation. I can't wait to be with everyone as well take a gazillion pictures ♥
- I am off from work today and tomorrow and it feels amazing, stress free. Oh I just love this feeling!
- At the Party Store that my girlfriend and I went to, in order to find invites for her housewarming party coming up.. I found a candy section. Was I in heaven? Yes! There was blow pops and fun-dip. Currently, I'm enjoying a Cherry Blow Pop. Mmmm...
- A night out at the Casino tomorrow night for one of our buddies birthdays. I cannot wait to be with our group of good friends!

Meet our Lovely Sponsors - Part One ♥

When did you begin blogging and what inspired you? -I began blogging in July of 2010 when my then boyfriend (now fiance) went off to bootcamp. I started reading all of these books to keep my mind off of him being gone and I really wanted to share my opinion on these books somehow. I started a book blog and became engrossed in the book review blog world. I eventually ran out of money to buy books (deleted my old book blog) and discovered this blog world and fell so much in love with it. I still book blog at Bright Wishes Book Reviews if you'd like to see recommendations.

*What is your favorite hobby and when did it begin? -Of course my favorite hobby would be blogging. I really don't have any other hobbies other then reading. Being a blogger has so many benefits and personal rewards. You meet so many great people and are given so many opportunities. You just have to stick with it even when you think you can't.

*Is there something that you always wanted to do in life? Do you have a passion for something you’re working towards? -I've always wanted to have my own business. I'm still not sure what that will be yet. Check out this post for all my dreams. I would love to start my own bakery, photography business, wedding planning/styling business, and more! I really need to start at one thing though ;)

*Is there something you do to ‘de-stress’? If so, tells us about it. -To de-stress I will either read or watch a movie. When Mr. Charming (my fiance) is home, I like to just cuddle and laugh and be silly with each other and that takes the stress right out of me!

*Is there anything happening your life at this moment, that you’re absolutely loving? -I'm planning a wedding (mostly by myself) but I love it so much. Of course it's extremely hard but I love planning all the details. On my blog I will frequently talk about my wedding plans which I think people really enjoy!
*     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *

When did you begin blogging and what inspired you? - I started blogging in November of last year! My husband is in the Navy and we were about to make our cross country move from Georgia to California, and a family member actually suggested it to help keep everyone back home updated. I never thought it would become what it is today!

What is your favorite hobby and when did it begin? - I love doing make-up and hair. Is the even considered a hobby? Probably not, but it's something I truly enjoy! I've done a lot of friends make-up and hair for weddings, and now that my daughter has enough it's even more fun to make cute little girl hairstyles!

Is there something you do to ‘de-stress’? If so, tells us about it. - I know it sounds so cliche', but I love a good shower. I would say bath, but with a 2-year-old running out those can sometimes be out of the question unless you want someone to join you. But to be able to just stay in a shower as long as I want and actually be able to shave my legs? Pure magic!

Do you have advice for other bloggers who are just starting off? - Blog for you! Always, always, always blog for you. I've gotten my fair share of snarky comments, but the best thing to do is delete them and move on. For every 1 of those you get, you probably get 100 more ones that lift you up.

Is there anything happening your life at this moment, that you’re absolutely loving? - The age that my daughter is now. I think I've continued to say it almost every month since she was born, but right now is my favorite age. She just turned two and learning so many new things! Hearing all of the cute things she has to say completely makes my day.

Fabulous Fashions 4 Sensible Style: Liesl
Fashion Blog
Website

*When did you begin blogging and what inspired you? -I began blogging 2 years ago, but only seriously about a year ago in June of 2010.  I had been to a red carpet event at Paramount where I wore an outfit I put together from my closet for under $100 from head to toe, which you can see here (http://fabulousfashions4sensiblestyle.blogspot.com/2009/06/affordable-red-carpet-look-price.html).  So, since I have always loved fashion, but gotten the most compliments on my most affordable items, even from celebrities and people in the entertainment and fashion industry, I wanted to share it with others, but never thought I would have the following I do now.  Ultimately, I began blogging because I enjoyed it and it has become a true passion of mine over time!

*Is there anything happening your life at this moment, that you’re absolutely loving? -I am currently planning my wedding for September of 2012, and I have to say, it has brought me such joy, especially participating in Wedding Wednesday on my blog, which I saw so many of my fellow bloggers doing, but didn't really think I would be taking part in.  Next thing you know, I am engaged and doing just that! :)  Honestly, I don't think I ever expected it to be as much fun as it is, and since I started my planning right after getting engaged on January 5th of this year, I am just enjoying the process and pretty stress-free about it now, which I hope I can maintain, but I know the usual stresses will creep in as it the wedding day approaches!

*What is your favorite hobby and when did it begin? -This is a fun question!  A hobby I have had since I was very little was collecting stickers!  Now, I used to just put them in a sticker album and not use them, but I am someone who frequently sends cards and letters and cover them, especially the envelope, in stickers since it looks incomplete without it in my eyes...almost like my accessory to the letter or card itself! :)  Now, I just gather stickers I like and keep them in an accordion folder organized by sticker type or category (ie: hearts, stars, holiday, animals/things that fly or move, birthday, flowers, etc.) for the purpose of actually using them.

My other hobby is an odd one, which started when I was about 12 in middle school when a friend of mine, who had just moved to the US from Canada, had a couple fun soda cans from Québec that were almost like art and brightly colored with illustrations on them, but they were just plain drinking soda cans there, and she gave me three to keep after I expressed how much I loved them!  Anywho, from that day forward I started collecting any cans that were decorated and my collection began to grow.  You can see some of my collection here (http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/7213/decoratedsodacancollect.jpg) with the 3 that started it all on the top left stacked on top of each other!  Now, what I will do with them, who knows, but I plan to put them on display in a theatre room in my house one day for fun to display them! :)

*Is there something that you always wanted to do in life? Do you have a passion for something you’re working towards? -My personal passions and career wants in life have evolved and changed as I have grown older, but I have always wanted to open my own Children's Charity Foundation.  Or at least be an active part of a current one where I don't just donate money, but actively interact with and visit the children and volunteer my time.  I love knowing that I am doing something to give back or help others, it just makes me happy in ways I can't quite explain.  I'm one of those who prefers to give gifts rather than receive them, and am known to wait forever to actually even open gifts I'm given...hehe...yes, I always like them, but giving them brings me a pure sense of joy.

*What is the best vacation you ever had in life and why? -This is such a great question and a very tough one for me to answer because I have been fortunate to have so many wonderful ones around the world growing up with my extraordinary family.  One of my best was probably our family trip to Kenya, Africa and the safaris we went on seeing animals up close and personal, including going out to a viewing deck, when certain alarms sounded in the middle of the night, to see herds of animals and unique sightings!

My others would probably be my summer at a beautiful farm house in Turenne, France or summer in Argentina when I was 15 visiting a friend who lived there, and then celebrating Christmas and the Millennium in Sydney, Australia and Hamilton Island with my entire family!  Mostly because all, except Argentina, were experienced with my family and each introduced me to different people and ways of life!  Oh and my most recent trip to Prince Edward Island with 3 friends for a week where we rented a lovely house on the water, relaxed and went on little day adventures.  That one was a best one because we didn't have international cell phone service, didn't go online and just truly were able to put that aside for a full week and truly enjoy being away without all the distractions of modern technology.
