Green Eats Blog

Today I introduce to you one of my longest and genuine friends, Matt.
He is the writer and creator behind Green Eats Blog!

Let’s start with this - I love food. I know most people say that they “love” food, but I love food. I think about it pretty much constantly, I dream about it, and I can pontificate for hours on topics such as the proper way to roast a chicken and vinegar v. tomato based barbecue sauces.

Green Eats Blog originally started as a class project. I was enrolled in the Sustainable Agriculture program at Central Carolina Community College here in North Carolina (after finding my liberal arts degree oh-so-useful in this economy) and we had to do a final presentation for my Intro to Sustainable Agriculture class. I chose a blog, and the rest, as they say, is history.

But not really. Writing a blog, and being consistent, is hard work. I am employed full-time as the manager for a local cheesemaking company here in North Carolina, and on top of that I am involved in organizing events and doing social media outreach for the local food community. I use Green Eats Blog as an outlet for my obsession, as a repository for my inner food nerd. I post recipes, list local food events, and track my journey through the world of sustainable agriculture.
The basic premise behind Green Eats Blog is simple - that food should be delicious, easy, and above all nourishing, both for you and your community. I support local farms and businesses, fight against the interests of corporate agriculture, industrial food, and the politicians who have sold our health and environment to the highest bidder. I believe that everyone should have access to whole, healthy food. I think that the Big Mac is the epitome of everything that is wrong with the American food system. I want a simple homemade meal to be accessible and enjoyable to everyone.

I’ve known Katie my entire life, we met in pre-school and have been friends ever since. I’ve grown and moved away, and still I know that she is there for me if I need her. I like to think that my blog is like hers in many ways; about love. She expresses a simple, infectious love for life, family, and friends. I hope to capture that love and express it through food. If nothing else, I want Green Eats Blog to be a gathering place for people who love to eat.

Guest Blogger: Brooklyn @ The Frog Princess

Hey guys! My name is Brooklyn McKenna and I’m super-duper excited to be visiting Katie's blog today!
You can visit ME at thefrogprincess16.blogspot.com

Since Katie's blog is all about romance and love, I thought I'd start out by sharing with you the story of how I got asked to my Senior Cotillion. (aka Senior Prom)

So I live in Utah, and in Utah we don't just walk up to someone and ask if they would like to go to the dance with us. It has to be creative. This usually means something being delivered to your classroom or door-bell ditching your house and leaving something on the porch. So here is how my best friend asked me to our Senior Cotillion...

He set it up like a puzzle. There were 4 pieces with cute things written on them that fit together at the end to ask me to the dance. Check it out below!

This one I got in my locker before Statistics.

This one was hidden across the street from my house. (How he ever expected me to find that I don’t know haha)

This one was on my kitchen table. (Yes, he snuck in my back door while I was out front.)

This one was by the mailbox.

On the back of all the pieces were some partial words that I had to put together.
Here’s the final outcome with a quote from The Little Mermaid on Broadway!

I absolutely loved the way he asked me, and of course I said yes :)

Isn't he the sweetest? <3
So now that we've had some romance let's learn about the blogger that is Brooklyn McKenna (that's me!)

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I started my blog as a way for me to share my thoughts and feelings as well as spread the news that LIFE IS WONDERFUL! I’ve always loved to write and blogging gives me a chance to do that without having to worry so much about the technicalities of writing. I love to spread hope and sunshine through my blog and through the way I live my life. I’m not perfect, but I’m perfectly me!

I love to dress up in big, gorgeous dresses and go out dancing but I also love to wear comfy sweats and a t-shirt and stay in and cuddle up with a good book or watch a movie.

I’m not too crafty or sporty, and I’m coming to terms with the fact that those are not my talents. I love Disney movies and I love music! I mostly lean toward country and pop music but I’ll pretty much listen to anything. I’m very emotional and sensitive but I’m passionate.

I'm a hopeless romantic who loves to watch chick-flicks or read romance novels in my spare time. I dream of being a mommy and wife when I "grow up" :)

I love to sing, dance, and cook! I teach piano lessons to the children in my neighborhood and I have recently taken up tutoring. I love my job!

I love blogging!
I blog about things from my perfect wedding, to quotes and stories that have inspired me. I share the things I’m learning in my life and the books I’m reading. Feel free to drop on by and explore my blog, you won't be disappointed :)

Ooh lala, a guest post!

I was given an extraordinary opportunity to be a guest on Donna's page at Write Now Write Later while she is spending the week with her best friend. My post is up as well, you will be able to read the other lovely people who also contributed to guest posts on her page. You can read more posts on her other blog, Refusing to Age Gracefully where I was invited to guest post on the 9th!

A little peak at my post...."I love to observe everything around me, no matter where I am. Perhaps, it's to be safe with my surroundings or suppose I'm nosy? I've always been a dreamer in the car when I'm riding shotgun. Trying so hard to look at all the details as everything is passing bye so fast in the opposite direction in which I'm going....."

To read the rest please visit Donna's blog: http://djpr2001.blogspot.com/2011/01/it-was-always-there-guest-blog.html

Thank you and tomorrow I will be sharing a Love Story that I received from a very special someone ♥

Love you all and goodnight,
Kate
